Risk parity is an investment strategy that aims to spread risk exposure equally across every type of portfolio asset. It aligns with modern portfolio theory (MPT) by trying to maximize returns while adhering closely to the investor’s risk tolerance. Under put-call parity, initiating a fiduciary call (buying a call option on an asset that expires at time T together with a risk-free zero-coupon bond that also expires at time T) is equivalent to holding the same asset and initiating a protective put on it (buying a put option with an exercise price of X that can be used to sell the asset for X at time T). Assumptions. Put–call parity is a static replication, and thus requires minimal assumptions, namely the existence of a forward contract. In the absence of traded forward contracts, the forward contract can be replaced (indeed, itself replicated) by the ability to buy the underlying asset and finance this by borrowing for fixed term (e.g., borrowing bonds), or conversely to borrow and sell Three models were evaluated: the minimum risk (MR), risk parity (RP) and optimal risk-reward (OPT) using fractional programming. Within those models, four risk measures were evaluated: mean-variance (EV), mean absolute deviation (MAD) and lower partial moments of orders 2 and 4 (LPM2 and LPM4) representing different aversions to below threshold losses\( ^{2} \).

Using a rigorous model, it is shown that, given the level of an observable proxy of the risk‐free rate of lending (T‐bill rates, for example), the put‐call parity provides an opportunity to borrow at rates substantially below the market The risk-free rate is 4.5% and the put is selling for $3.80. According to the put-call parity, the price of the call option should be closest to: A. $6.52. B. $6.32. Normally, if the data is OK and the Put-Call parity holds, one should expect to correctly imply ZC (Zero Coupon bond) prices and forwards by Stack Exchange Network Stack Exchange network consists of 176 Q&A communities including Stack Overflow , the largest, most trusted online community for developers to learn, share their knowledge, and build The reason that synthetic options are possible is due to the concept of put-call parity implicit in options pricing models. Managers can choose bonds, stocks, commodities, and other types of assets with uncorrelated returns. The key is assembling assets that for the put and call options, I t is the level of the underlying index at timet, r is the continuously compounded rate of return on a risk-free security, and is the time to maturity of the put and call measured in years.
